In two sentences
Le Puits d'Angle, a bed & breakfast in Thibivillers (Oise) one hour from Paris, has a heated indoor pool and a hammam open all year to its guests, a library with an open fire and a table d'hôtes in the evening. Rates do not change in winter: €100 to €130 a night for two with breakfast, and €39 per person for dinner with wine.
Why it works in winter
- A pool at 28 °C, all year
- Under the old timber roof, with wide glass doors onto the garden. Reserved for the guests of the five rooms, with the hammam next door.
- The fire is lit
- In winter, breakfast is served in front of the fireplace in the library — the room where everyone ends up reading, playing board games and dining.
- Dinner on site
- Midweek and off-season, restaurants nearby are few and close early. The table d'hôtes solves it: a winter menu might be pumpkin soup, veal blanquette, Neufchâtel from the farm and an apple tart — €39 with wine, booked 24 hours ahead.
- A bath, too
- Reinette and Pink Lady have a bathtub; every room has individual heating.
- The same price as summer
- Rates are the same all year, breakfast always included.
